Donkey Kong really needs no introduction, it's one of the classic games of all time and has been released on almost every platform. There are four levels, each one following the same basic pattern of jumping over barrels or other meanies. The object of each level is simply get to the top of the screen!

Graphics

It's not often that I can start by saying that the graphics on this game are better than any other version of the game. The game is almost arcade perfect in every way. Nice colourful graphics, nice sprites and everything runs very smoothly.

What really makes this CPC version different to every other format is the fact that over-scan has been used so the game plays in it's true screen ratio. Just like the arcade version! Load it up and show it off to your friends to show them the power of the CPC!

Sound

Once again we are not let down. The sound effects and tunes are all above par, and it feels as if you are playing the arcade version.

Gameplay & Final Comments

The game is based over four levels, at the end of each forth level the game go's back to level one but a little bit harder. The gameplay has been tweaked to perfection, although the game runs a little slower than it's direct competitor which was released in 1984 (Killer Gorrilla by Micropower).

The whole game reflects the power of the CPC and is a true classic that is sometimes overlooked by 8-bit fans. Give it a go and you'll relive some of those teenage years you spent playing this great blast from the past.
