Test your general knowledge skills in this unofficial Trivial Pursuit game as you try and beat up to three other players and prove yourself the smartest? or at least the one who knows the most useless junk?

Graphics

Trivia is, in a word, ugly. Really ugly. Very blocky and with little real thought put into the presentation, each of the six categories is indicated by a different colour and the whole game looks like a crappy type-in.

As with most quiz games, the real strength of the program should lie in the gameplay, graphics are a necessary extra. However, while some games have tried to put an interesting or pleasing front end on the program, Trivia sticks with a single view of a very rough looking playing board and a few flashing icons to indicate the player?s position.

Eye strainingly bad.

Sound

As if the visual assault was not enough, Trivia plays a virtual library of irritating tones to indicate the player?s movements, the roll of the dice and such. Again, no corner has been left uncut by the designers and the sonic presentation does nothing to make the game seem any more professional.

Gameplay

Which leaves us with the most important factor in all games. The gameplay. As a quiz program, Trivia isn?t too bad for a real test of your trivial knowledge it does suffer somewhat though of being a little too difficult and obscure. There?s no difficulty levels so younger players (or people who were young when the game came out!) could find themselves struggling.

Another problem, common with most quizzes unfortunately, is the lack of a one player mode, meaning friends will have to be sought to play along and, frankly, if you?re going to go to that bother, you might as well pull a board game down from the loft.

Overall the game looks amateurish and although the questions are set to give your little grey cells a thorough workout, chances are you wont bother to try and get past the appalling looks and sounds. A pity because with a little more care taken in the presentation then Trivia may have been one worth persevering with.
