In this game licenced from the Atari coin-op, you control one of two people sent to Planet X, where the evil Reptilons have taken over and are forcing the scientists there to create a robot army destined to destroy Earth! It is your job to destroy the robots monsters, the Reptilons and rescue the scientists. This is a two player game which sees you going through the levels of Planet X shooting nearly everything that moves. There are some funny bits throughout the game like the scientists getting burnt if you accidently shoot them and if you fall off the edge, you hang there for a moment until you climb back up.

Graphics

he MODE 0 graphics, although not to the same detail as the original arcade game, replicate the feel of the enviroment. The speed of the graphics is nice and resonable. It doesn?t have the introduction or between level status screens - they must have run out of space for these, so they can be forgiven for this. You do get the nice effects where the scientists get burnt when you accidently shoot them.

Sound

The in-game sound is good with the laser guns and explosions.

Gameplay

The control system is tricky to get used too at first but when you do get the hang of it, it becomes simple. A sad obmission from the arcade game is in the in-between levels section where you use a spacecraft to navigate passages to get to another level. You can play this game for ages without getting bored and the use of a two player function increases the gameplay potential. This is a good licence and makes good use of the CPC?s capabilities.
