Following the success of Dizzy and Treasure Island Dizzy, Codemasters + the famous Oliver Twins have brought us Fantasy World Dizzy. As well as giving us a new enviroment for Dizzy to explore, we get to meet other members of the Yolkfolk. Dizzy?s girlfriend Daisy has been kidnapped by the Evil King?s Troll and sent to the wizard?s Tallest Tower while Dizzy got sent to the dungeons deep under Fantasy World. Dizzy must find his way out of the dungeons and find his way to rescue Daisy. Along with Daisy, you get to meet Grand-dizzy, Dylan, Denzil and Dozy who will help you or give you tips or items which might help you. This is slightly bigger than Treasure Island Dizzy but with hair pulling puzzles in rooms named The Ultimate Illusion or a part of Fantasy World where everything is upside down! This was to be the final Dizzy game to be coded by the Oliver Twins. When you rescue Daisy, you may think the game is over, but it isn?t, because you will have to collect 30 gold coins! There is a nice touch in one room where if you click the action button on a portrait and it tells you that it is a picture of Dizzy from Treasure Island Dizzy.

Graphics

A nice loading screen shows the promise of good graphics in the game and it delivers. This is the first game to give Dizzy his nice green shade although the other members of the Yolkfolk don?t have the colour scheme. The members of the Yolkfolk are good sprites though. The beanstalk on both sides of the screen with the cloud is good. The detail in this game is very good and it works well in the Ultimate Illusion screen.

Sound

Two tunes play in this game. One on the title screen and in-game. Both are very good. There is a slightly annoying sound when bouncing about and a nice sounding effect when a dragon breaths fire at you. You get a small track lasting a few seconds when you find a coin. There is also a sound effect when Dizzy loses a life.

Gameplay

The game is easy to get into - puzzles from the moment you start the game. There are even some puzzles which will drive you to insanity - the aforementioned Ultimate Illusion. The upside down area is a nice touch and when you get the hang of it, it?s just as simple to go through - good job there are only three rooms in this section. As usual in Dizzy games, you have to collect 30 coins in order to finish the game 100% and some are tricky to find or get too. For the final Dizzy game to be written by the Oliver Twins, they have done very well. Recommended.
