The citizens of Earth have fled before the arival of the on-coming Zargon fleet. However, the Earths supply of uranium had to be left behind. You have remained to guard it until the Earths defence fleet can be re-fitted.

Suddenly in the sky above you, you see the enemy fleet has arrived. Things are worse than you expected The fleet is swirling above you blasting gaps in the defences.

The mothership is having pods that hatch on landing or split in two if shot. Others are peeling from the main fleet and driving towards the holes made in the defences. The successfull ones mutate into motherships that cannot be destroyed, once the majority have mutated they commence landing proceedures.
Sounds interesting....but is it?

Graphics

It has to be said that this isn?t one of Amsofts greatest games in the many they released as it?s pretty much just your average quality Space Invaders clone with a dodgy story line. The graphics in this one certainly wouldn?t look out of place on older consoles with a colour scheme pretty close to the Atari 2600 classic Centipede. That being said however more colours have been used than in some more expensive titles by bigger names in the videogame industry - just check the rest of the review archive for proof.

Sound

As for sound, well we aren?t treated to much more than a few bangs and bleeps in this one, a game not coded by the big wigs at Amsoft HQ but by a developer much similar to PD developers today (or so we are told).

Gameplay

Last but certainly not least we look at the gameplay, well Alien Break-In plays much the same as every other Space Invaders clone but it has a much more responsive control system and a lightning fast frame rate - Domarks Space Invaders 91 couldn?t even achieve this. Okay the graphics and sound might not be up to much but everyone known that Space Invaders is and always will be a timeless classic, there?s no reason why this reasonable clone shouldn?t be mentioned somewere along the timeline.

It?s certainly more playable and addictive than Galactic Plague but with a few flaws here and there you can only judge for yourselves.
