Waddington Games infamous board games more or less all got converted to the Amstrad CPC and only a handful of them had something different to offer the games player other than the cheaper price.

Cluedo is the murder mystery board game that has you playing detective and trying to hide your murderous ways or discovering the murderer for yourselves. Psst...it was Colonel Mustard with the rope in the Library...

Graphics

Cluedo has been ported to the Amstrad perfectly, the entire board is visible on screen and the animated roling of the dice is nothing short of superb. The murder cards have been illustrated nicely and although the colour is often limited to blue, red and yellow it is still a great job by the Leisure Genius guys and I?m sure Waddingtons would be proud.

Fans of the original board game certainly won?t be let down by the graphcs on offer here and should easily feel at home. The user interface is friendly and informative so even the most novice of computer users can begin playing within minutes.

Sound

You have the option of enabling the sound or switching it off completely at the start of the game. If you chose to leave the sound running you will hear various theme tunes for each of the suspects including the world famous "Hitler has only got one..." you know the rest. Other sounds are pretty basic and few and far between but at least you can play without them.

Gameplay

The idea of the game is to discover who murdered who, with what, and when they did it. Fans of the original board game should feel right at home with the computer version and while it doesn?t offer anything the board game didn?t other than the slightly lower price it is still a very good conversion by Leisure Genius.

The user interface is easy to navigate and friendly enough so that your average player can get to grips with it in a few seconds, no need to dig out the rule book either as the game is pretty much self explanatory as it progresses.

I must also tell you that this is one of the first board game conversion I played on the CPC and therefore has some fond memories in my mind.
