Ok, if there is anyone reading this review that does not remember the arcade classic "Space Invaders" then perhaps you should leave because this is one of the most popular and well loved shoot-em-ups of all time. Classic Invaders is Bubble Bus Software?s re-incarnation of the classic game on our beloved CPC home computer with a few enhancements thrown in here and there for good measure!

Graphics

Classic Invaders is one hell of a great looking game. It copies much the same graphical style as Space Invaders in that you are placed at the bottom of the screen and can hide between 3 bases (left, middle and right) while shooting the nasty aliens that threaten our planet. The aliens move the same way as they did on the original and even the space craft zooms over the top of the screen for that little extra bonus if you can shoot it down.

Whats the difference? I hear you ask, well unlike the original we are given many more colours to play with and everything looks visualy better than the original title while keeping extremely faithful to the original arcade.

Sound

Sound is again extremely faithful to the original Space Invaders game, the "boom-bam boom-bam" noise that we all know and love is still here while the aliens move along the screen. The gun shot sounds are enhanced slightly and sound a little more authentic (if that is the right word) and on top of all this we have some great introduction music before you start shooting the alien scum.

Seriously good stuff.

Gameplay

There shouldn?t be many people into the emulation scene that don?t enjoy a retro shooter like Space Invaders which takes you back to basics and keeps you playing for hours.

Though Classic Invaders is a remake of the original formula it is much better than the official and awful remake Domark published back in the early 1990s and still manages to keep you hooked for hours.

This is one title we can?t push down your throat hard enough, get it and play it now!
