All Quasimodo wants is a nice life so that he can ring his bells and possibly get a date with Ezmeralda (spelt wrong?) but somebody has stolen his bells and taken away Ezmeralda - nasty buggers. Now you must jump over deadly traps, avoid nasty henchman and ring those bells to gain access to the later levels.

If you manage to get 5 bells you will be given a super bonus for all your efforts and the gameplay will be made harder to stop you from doing it again. Once again Amsoft give away (courtesy of Ocean) an almost ridiculously easy game and one that can certainly be picked up by everybody in your house and in fact all the houses around you.

Having said that Hunchback is certainly not an awful game and I have always been a big fan of the game since I borrowed it from a mate in the early 90?s, but the review may not reflect such a good image...here goes.

Graphics

If you have already played the sequel or have jumped ahead to read the review for it then you will know that the original games is nothing like the much more challenging original game, perhaps Ocean realised that the original was just a tad too easy or maybe the developer just got a slap on the head and was ordered to change the game.

Anyway the graphics are great and cartoon like (as it should be) but yet again it doesn?t go down so well on Green Screen monitors due to the high level of red on each and every level (this gives a very bright or very dull green colour on the older GT65) however most of us will be replaying this game via an emulator and will no doubt be using the colour emulation as opposed to the green screen mode (aka Caprice 32) so it doesn?t matter at all.

Sound

The sound is once again nice and jolly but there isn?t much in the game itself, most of the sound is in-between the "wall complete" screens and the introduction, hey the game was coded a long time ago so this shouldn?t be held against the game at all - it certainly isn?t something you notice unless you are reviewing the game like poor old me ;O)

Gameplay

As for gameplay, anyone can pick this up..even my little kitten could jump on the keyboard and complete a few walls without loosing a life so it?s certainly worth looking at for those that enjoy a bit of mindless fun from time to time - like me.
