It comes as no surprise that the CPC464 lost to the BBC. The BBC was, of course, commissioned and promoted by the BBC, so that the criteria used were biased in favor of the Acorn machine.

For instance, they overplayed the software quantity point; but this would leave any new machine fighting an uphill fight. Also, the graphical capabilities were not protrayed accurately, maybe because they were not fully understood.
