Initially, Vortex provided a patched version of CP/M 2.2 together with their S- and D-Drives. Following a legal dispute with Digital Research, Vortex switched to supplying only patches for CP/M 2.2 and CP/M 3.0.

Vortex RAM Expansion

Vortex provided a system disc with a file called PATCH.COM on it, which patched Amstrad's CP/M 2.2 so that CP/M could use their RAM expansion to get 63KB TPA.

Vortex Disc Drives

The X-Drive series came with a system disc containing files called XPATCH.COM and XPATCH30.COM which patched Amstrad's CP/M 2.2, or CP/M+ respectively, to that Vortex disc drives can be used in CP/M.

There is a patch and/or a patched version of CP/M which enables using Vortex WD20 hard disc drive.
