Edoz(MSX)

Hi, I'm working on a new game for SymbOS. (Using Unify/SymStudio)

It is not done yet but i created a movie on youtube for fun.

I run it on REAL hardware. First on a real MSX2 (16 colors) and then on a REAL Enterprise 128 machine! (With 4 colors)
The Enterprise 128 is so fast!! even without the turbo mode!

I don't own a CPC machine ..sorry i didn't create a movie on thismachine. Maybe in future if i own a CPC ;)

Joseman

Hi

Do you know if Unify will be released anytime soon?

the CPC version is just as good, don't worry.

MacDeath

I guess the CPC version will be exactely like the E128 one then... ;D

Also : be aware it is an MSx2, not just an "MSX" (aka  MSX1 : the shitty one)

Unify is getting closer - Probably early July. This game is written on an Alpha build specially for Edoz

I would be looking for a turbo r.

TurboR.
AKA the rarest one...
Basically no more a real 8 bit as well.  ::)

Kris

Let's say that the R800 is the second heart of this machine :) but it remains a Z80 then an 8 bits machine... ;D
I own one for several yeras now and it is a very amazing cpu !

Edoz(MSX)

I agree on that... I own a Turbo-r and a MSX2.  I have to say that even the turbo-r is not a real 8 bit system anymore it feels like it. It is just a MSX, but a faster one.
It works like a Z80, it feels like it ... and it is old...

I also build a turbo kit in my MSX2, That just clocked the z80 at 7 mhz. it is not very expensive to do and it makes the MSX a lot faster. (and i think nicer to use)
Of course i can always switch back to 3.5 Mhz.. but i noticed that it is on 7 mhz most of the time ;)

But beside the MSX .. maybe i want to own a CPC as well ..to test out the SymbOS applications on a CPC. Some months ago i got this amazing rare enterprise machine.
That is also a very cool device.. like all the Z80 computers :D

For me too!! That was the reason for me to make it for SymbOS!! I also like the SEGA version for the Master system and the MSX. Was there also a SEGA Columns version for the CPC ?
Now days we can play Master System games and game gear games on the MSX. Someone created this special add-on (video) card on the MSX so that you can play those Sega games on your MSX.
(As it as all z80 based!) That is very cool!

seanb

I believe there is a fan made columns clone on the amstrad.
Didn't know about that adapter for the MSX.
I'll check that out.
It seems the MSX is more versitile than I thought

if you have a retro desire, may as well make it as unattainable as possible. I mean I don't want a rubberkey speccy.

I would love the following tho, in this order.

Msx turbo r
Sam coupe
Enterprise 128

That's a good choice! :)

Only because of internal optimizations I wouldn't call the R800 16bit, as it still has the 8bit data and the 16bit address bus like most 8bit CPUs. You have the same limitations like with the Z80, it's only faster.

The cost factor will probably prevent me from ever getting any of them tho. :(

The game looks good. What are the chances of porting it to AMSDOS CPC native?

MacDeath

Quotebut it remains a Z80 then an 8 bits machine...
yeah, Sega Megadrive is also an 8Bit machine because it includes a Z80 as well.
:D

Weird choice of machine, because it has a Master System mode built-in  :P

Yes, MD runs nice 8 bit software!!!!

doesn't it need some extra hardware for that ? but yeah, it could run SynbOS I guess.

Yes and my current PC is 2bit because of some serial ports :D

And my PC is even less fancy, only 1 bit. Nice serial ports you have there

No chance at all. This is a symbos game. Why would you even want to make it native? Edo is a MSX guy and has very little interest in the CPC really, so its only the fact that he's now working with Symbos that means the CPC user will get to play this.
