I am sure this used to work fine , but I cannot seem to get the all important soundtrack to The Executioners version of' Frogger' play. Is anyone else able to try on winape to see if it is ROM related or has any advice on what is possible issue? Thanks  ???

Executioner

I assume you mean my version of Frogger. I just tried it and it works fine. Make sure you select the 464 or 6128 Plus configuration before starting.

Puresox

Lol, Oh FFS I am sorry, Must remember--..Executioner..-- thanks for letting us know .
Thats very odd , I just downloaded another ROM of it and made sure CPC464+ was selected but still only getting Sound FX ?? Will have to have another tinker with it.

Executioner

Have you checked your sound settings? Perhaps it's a bug with Mono sound or something. btw, the original version was not a ROM, it's a DSK image and it's available from here

Puresox

Nope doesn't want to work, all other games work and sound as normal?Very odd

Executioner

Anyone else having this problem? Frogger uses DMA sound for all sound effects and music. There shouldn't be any difference between music and fx, and it works perfectly for me (in 2.0b1)

Music/FX will only be there when you actually play the game. The title screen is silent, except for inserting coins.

Puresox

Yes Gerald , it is when I am playing the game , the funny thing is ,I am sure it used to work fine , although I cannot be certain. Really don't understand why seeing as all the rest of my games work fine music wise.

Puresox

Really baffled by this, Just tried the DJL Version of Froggy which is not too bad of a version for its age , the frog movement is a little slow mind you, music plays nicely .
I have tried numerous dumps of Executioners Frogger and all produce the same result , Sound FX but no music , I will point out that I am using speakers plugged into my laptop  but makes no effect pluggedin or not. I have recently had the update for new Winape keep flashing up whenever I use the emu, so may be a clever thing to entice you to upgrade lol. I will give the new version a try anyhow to see what improvements are. Is that your project also Exc?

The music volume is quite low compared to the sound effect. Maybe you volume is to low to ear it ?

Executioner

Have you tried the following from BASIC?

sound 1,100,100
sound 2,100,100
sound 4,100,100

You should get a tone from left, both then right.

I had this issue on a real gx4000 when I plugged my cm14 power into the wrong power socket on the back. Everything else was ok, dma sound was bad.

Gave this a try and all worked as should , left right and both.
I have noticed that when I play Frogger SFX are fine but I can hear a tone continuously running in the background ?
I have tried a different set of speakers , and still getting the same results. I am beginning to think it may well be this laptop sound maybe buggered in someway. It is just very odd that it is not across all games ? It may well be due to something which affects Plus games only? Will give some other Plus games a run

Executioner

The only other things I can think of are some weird settings disabling the Plus emulation from working properly, eg. another ROM inserted interfering with the game loading or something, or some other thing enabled. I assume you are running the latest version 2.0B1?

No I am still on the older WinApe, But I have just clicked yes on the upgrade notification for WinapeV 2.01B1 , but problems have arisen! It goes through the download fine , when I try to install it goes to the notice , 'You must quit Winape to restart ... Do you want to restart?' click yes and winape freezes and doesn't allow me to close down App .
So any idea's ?

If I select No , It comes up with a message saying Download error, but doesn't freeze win ape .

The upgrader doesn't play well with UAC and fails because it doesn't launch with enough permission to write to the executable folder. If you start WinAPE by right clicking the shortcut and selecting "Run As Administrator", then let it do it's update, it'll work fine.

Tested on real hardware and ace under morphos. I have no issues.
