Hi everybody, my name is Jonathan Erskine-Nartey. I was born in 1980 and live in London, UK. My first computer was Amstrad CPC 464 with CTM 644 Colour Monitor in 1986 - 6 years of age during that time. This Acorn BBC Master 128 has bought from capoates via eBay auction for a total of £206 with 18 bids bidding to £191 + £15 P&P. For more pics, please check out Acorn BBC Master 128 (92) Album

Bought this a few years back as a project that never came to fruition and with great sadness, I’m letting her go!

Looks like it has a view sheet rom, but I don’t have any instructions for it, plus a Watford electronics ‘Adder’ rom, also, no instructions.

I think the CMOS battery needs replacing ( three AA batteries part of a pack) if you know these machines, you’ll know what that is, easy to do apparently.

The machine runs fine other than that.

I can’t answer any technical questions, anything outside of that, fire away!

I loaded up a couple of games and they worked fine (please note, machine doesn’t come with the games)

No international, UK ONLY.

I have bought this Base Unit from Computer Corner for £28 including p&p. It has the same features as Packard Bell Executive Multi-Media 9021 XE except less memory, hard drive capacity, Windows 95A on original Western Digital Caviar 22100 WDAC22100-00H 2GB AT Compatible Intelligent HDD using Packard Bell Master CD - English Ref No: 6707430501 & FL96 MCD/W'95 BOOTFLOP V1.16 UK Ref No: 6707570701 instead of Windows 95B (OS 2.1), CD-ROM drive and processor speed with Facewall / Pbwall3 set as default background wallpaper instead of Packard Bell house wallpaper. But that's no problem for me, as I can easily upgrade them one by one all by myself.
On the bright side... I'm very happy about this Mini Tower base unit - Designer Tower (Pizza Box / Pizza Tower - Frog), as it has PB683 motherboard with voltage regulator next to the CPU socket, Packard Bell Rocky PnP 28.8 / 33.6 Sound Card and S3 ViRGE Graphics Controller (I love this one and its the best one) exactly the same as 9021 XE. I reckon these Packard Bell computers is the best PC ever, even though this computer is very old, I still reckon this is the best PC ever! No doubt!!! Plus, its my very favourite PC out of the two PCs.

FINALLY!!! I own one of these beauties after I have spend £50 - £25 + £25 p&p. I always WANTED one of them, since when I started using one of these RM Nimbus Computers at the age of 9 - 1989, in my primary school. No schools or colleges that I have 've attended would even sell it to me, no matter how much I'm offering them to buy for.
I kept thinking about these computers, even good memories keep coming back to, reminding me even time, when I'm near at any computers. Especially, the adventure games that I've played are "The Lost Frog" & "Merlin's Castle" from Adventures I, "Through the Dragon`s Eye" as well "Pirate Gold" from Maths with a Story 2 after finding out.

I've purchased this Sony Playstation 2 Serial: B3852037 off my brother, James's friend - Pete around Nov 2009, as he was planning to sell it, due to Disc Read Errors.

I was very keen to buy it for £15, feeling sorry for him and using it as my "experiment" with PS2 Disc Read Errors - "DRE", following Tweak3D.net - How to Repair a Malfunctioning Playstation 2; Fix Disc Read Errors web site and it worked perfectly!! Afterwards, I've decided to give it a very thoroughly cleaning from both the inside & out of PS2, giving it a very good polished, as it was very filthy, full of hair & dust, as well some cigarette ashes, as he smokes!

Using this 3rd PS2 at the moment with the existing setup in Photo #30 except with Maxtor 200GB HDD and keeping the 2nd PS2 with Maxtor 300GB HDD in PS2 Network Adaptor in the attic as backup.

Around 1986, my dad have spent £399.99 for it as he saw the Amstrad CPC 464 in "Amstrad Software & Peripheral Catalogue 1986", as he decide to buy it from Curry's which is nearer for him and he asked my second brother, Daniel to pushed the trolley from Curry's to my house. Originally, he has bought a first home computer for us (me and my two older brothers - James & Daniel) to use it for entertainment. But it turns out in the end that he has bought it only for me as no-one else in the family knows how to use a computer except me, as he knows that I like interesting bits e.g. books with pictures inside such as Spot the Dog books - Where's Spot? by Eric Hill, The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, The Tale Of Peter Rabbit by Beatrix Potter, Paddington Takes a Bath by Michael Bond, classic Ladybird books, Instruction Manuals, etc or playing around with electrical equipment. In those days, the Amstrad CPC 464's was one of the best computers when it first came out on the market. <br>
<br>
It was Amstrad CPC 464 with a colour monitor, Amsoft JY1 Joystick, Amstrad LP-1, Amstrad MP-1, Cheetah 125+ Joystick, manual, welcome tape - Spanish version and a box containing over £100 worth of games including Tubaruba, 3D Grand Prix, Tank Command. I got very excited at first, jumping up and down for joy, full of excitement and I couldn't wait to set-up the computer and start playing every computer game that came with this computer. I always on the computer everyday non stop. Even since then, my learning abilities started to grow and grow, while I was hooked on playing on the computer, going to my near by library Cotleigh Road Library to brought borrow and copying some of their Amstrad CPC games as they have the same computer as me. We were the first ones to buy this computer in my area, after James's friends come over and play on the computer with me, they started to copy copying my dad's idea and buy buying the same computer as us, except they couldn't afford to buy the colour version, which is too expensive for them to buy, instead they 've got the GT64/GT65 green screen version.<br>
<br>
Unfortunately, around 15th July 1990, one of my brother's friend, Richard accidentally spilled a ice lolly onto the keyboard and then the computer made some noises. So, its looks like the life of Amstrad CPC 464 is over (damaged) and my dad threw the Amstrad CPC 464 away, after he had tried to take the computer to the same shop Curry's store where my dad have bought the Amstrad from, but they no longer sell or repair these computers anymore. During that time, Moley, my neighbour give me a comic that comes with the newspaper "The Sunday Times" called "The Funday Times" - No. 45 as she always gives the comic to me after she buy her newspaper.<br>
<br>
I was very upset because that was one of my favourite home computer out of the other Amstrad CPCs range and I become attached to it, as I love this computer so much, one of the reasons I love this computer so much is, while the game is loading from cassette, I read the game instructions / manuals or make myself and my family a small snack with a cup of tea or talking, laughing, pulling funny faces with my two brothers while my parents sit down on the settle behind us, watching us having a good time. I got used to and I was loving it every minute of it, using it as a good thing, while some people moan because it takes a long time to load a game from cassette e.g. 3D Grand Prix. In a matter of fact, I was very clever when it comes to on paper, except there is only one big problem about me - that is simply I cannot speak or pronounce any words at all, so I use this computer with games / programmes that come with the computer as a learning exercise / teaching aid for myself and it worked.<br>
Worst of all, my oldest brother, James gave a whole collection of computer games, accessories that come with the computer to his friend, Michael for free behind my back. I keep wishing that he didn't it, as I can't stop thinking about the good times I have with the CPC 464. Even now, I still remember the good times, a collection of computer games, how it help my life. I guess it stays in me (memories).<br>
<br>
By the way, I let you a little secret about why I smile a lot or why I always happy, well, because each time, when I smile, it reminds me back when I was six years, people at primary school including the headmaster calling me dumb, stupid and so on just because I cannot speak or say a few words, I only do a sign language of my own, fortunately, when I started using computers including Amstrad CPC 464 (thanks to my dad) and I started saying a few words, all the same people were speechless, and felt ashamed. The funny thing is, everybody started coming to me and asking me to help them how to use their computers. Even the neighbours knocked on my door, asking me to set up their electrical equipment.
