Information

Orion Prime is a point-and-click adventure game developed by Targhan of Arkos and Supersly of Les Sucres en Morceaux, and was released by Cargosoft in 2009. The game involves the player docking with the Orion Prime spaceship and exploring it. Initially, the spaceship appears to be abandoned, but the player will soon discover that something very sinister has occurred on board, and he must find a way to escape. The authors have claimed that it is "the best adventure game ever made on the Amstrad CPC".

As of July 2010, French, English, Spanish and German versions of the game are available as a free download from the Orion Prime web site. Physical copies of the French, English and Spanish versions, for use on an actual Amstrad CPC, were also produced, but are no longer available.

Release

Orion Prime was initially only available in French, and in limited quantities, on either two 3″ or 3.5″ discs for use on an actual Amstrad CPC. The discs came in a DVD case, along with extra items such as an audio CD and a newspaper article. The price of this package was €10. The first batch of orders were posted to customers on 16th September 2009.

The French version of the game was then made freely available to download for use on either emulators or an actual Amstrad CPC on 28th October 2009, in both 3″ and 3.5″ disc formats.

3″ and 3.5″ disc versions of both the English and Spanish translations were available for ordering from 15th March 2010 until 30th April 2010. The French version was also re-released due to high demand. However, the cost of the package was increased to €15.

On 30th June 2010, the English and Spanish translations of the game were then made freely available to download.

On 2nd July 2012, the German translation was finally completed and made freely available to download.

Sales

According to a post on the CPCWiki forum by Targhan, a total of 175 copies of the game were produced and sold — 121 copies of the French version, 33 of the English version, and 21 of the Spanish version.
